LinXRecord — Lightweight Linux Screen Recorder
Record more. Impact less.
LinXRecord is a lightweight screen-recording application designed with low-end Linux computers in mind.
Whether you're capturing gameplay, recording your desktop, or taking screenshots, LinXRecord gives you straightforward controls without requiring a complicated recording setup.
Features
- Hardware-accelerated recording: Automatically detects and tests supported hardware video encoders, with software encoding as a fallback.
- Five recording profiles: Ultra Low, Low Impact, Balanced, Smooth, and Manual.
- Video format choices: H.264, H.265, AV1, and MJPEG with compatible MKV, MP4, WebM, and AVI containers.
- Configurable keyboard shortcuts: Start recording, stop recording, and capture screenshots while another application has focus on X11.
- Native-resolution screenshots: Capture your desktop as a PNG without applying the video recording resolution.
- Simple encoder benchmark: Displays a performance score and the encoding method used.
- Customizable recording settings: Choose your resolution, FPS, bitrate quality, and output location.
Designed for Linux
Available as an AppImage and .deb installer for compatible Linux systems.
LinXRecord currently supports X11 desktop recording. Native Wayland capture and global shortcuts are not yet supported. Hardware acceleration requires a compatible GPU, driver, and working video encoder. Performance depends on your hardware and selected settings.
