DevNote

**A local-first notebook and game-development workbench for Windows and Linux.**

*If you purchased any of my No Code Game Engines you will find this program is now included. Go to the downloads page for them if you own them to get your copy.*

Plan games, write design docs, track production, organize research, and prepare storefront and sales work — all inside one local notebook workspace.

DevNote brings notes, game design, production tracking, release planning, and sales preparation into one organized desktop application.

At its core, DevNote is a flexible notebook: create notebooks, sections, pages, free-form note blocks, tables, drawings, attachments, links, tags, comments, audio notes, and more. But it is also built specifically for game development, with dedicated **Game Dev** and **Sales** ribbons that turn the notebook into a practical production hub.

Whether you are designing your first indie game, managing a long-running project, or trying to keep design, QA, release, and storefront planning from being scattered across dozens of files, DevNote gives you one place to keep the project together.

Built for game development

The **Game Dev** workspace includes tools and templates for:

- Game Design Documents and design pillars

- Mechanics, combat, progression, levels, encounters, quests, and narrative planning

- Art, audio, animation, VFX, and asset tracking

- Engineering notes, technical debt, save systems, rendering, and build pipelines

- Sprint planning and a persistent Kanban board

- Task owners, disciplines, priorities, blockers, notes, and workflow movement

- Sprint metrics and production history

- Dependency and relationship tracking

- Linked project-folder asset inventory

- Build artifact and release tracking

- QA strategy, bug reports, test matrices, compatibility tracking, and release checklists

- Structured game databases and reusable project templates

Sales and launch planning are built in

DevNote also includes a dedicated **Sales** ribbon with 14 built-in templates covering the commercial side of shipping a game.

Plan and track:

- General storefront copy and release metadata

- Steam store-page preparation

- itch.io store-page preparation

- Pricing strategy

- Sales forecasts

- Wishlist growth

- Launch planning

- Sales tracking

- Revenue dashboards

- Marketing campaigns

- Social content calendars

- Creator and press outreach

- Review-key distribution

- Publisher pitches

These are editable planning pages inside your normal DevNote notebook — not online accounts or automated store integrations. Your sales data stays local unless you choose to export or share it yourself.

A real notebook, not just a collection of templates

DevNote keeps the everyday note-taking tools available alongside the game-development features:

- Local notebooks, sections, and pages

- Free-form page layout

- Rich text formatting

- Tables

- Drawing and pen tools

- Pictures and file attachments

- Links

- Tags and global search

- Comments and review tools

- Audio notes

- OCR text extraction

- Page history and undo/redo

- Light and Dark themes

- Color-coded navigation titles

- Search across normal text and structured content such as table cells, attachment names, image names, comments, and audio transcription text

Export your work

DevNote can export project material through several common formats, including:

- PDF / HTML

- Microsoft Word

- Microsoft PowerPoint

- Markdown

That makes it useful both as a private project notebook and as a place to prepare documents you will later send to teammates, publishers, testers, or clients.

Local-first by design

DevNote stores its notebook data locally. There is no required account, no mandatory cloud service, and no Steam, itch.io, publisher, payment-processor, or analytics login built into the Sales tools.

Normal uninstall behavior preserves your notebooks and personal DevNote data.

Designed for large projects

DevNote 0.1.2 was stress-tested with a 10-section, 100-page game-development project. This release also includes expanded structured search and a repeated-navigation memory fix so large notebooks can be browsed repeatedly without the large per-cycle memory growth found during stress testing.

Platforms

- **Windows** — installer and portable build

- **Linux** — Debian/Ubuntu/Linux Mint compatible `.deb` and AppImage builds

Your work remains yours

You retain ownership of the games, notes, designs, documents, assets, exports, sales plans, marketing plans, and other original content you create with DevNote.

DevNote itself is licensed software and may not be redistributed without permission.
