LinXPDF - Professional PDF Editing for Linux
**Native Linux PDF editing, OCR, forms, signatures, standards validation, document comparison, batch tools, and professional document workflows - in one dark, Linux Mint-inspired desktop application.**
LinXPDF is a full-featured native PDF viewer and editor built for Linux users who need substantially more than basic page viewing. It combines everyday PDF editing with professional tools for content manipulation, forms, OCR, redaction, digital signatures, PDF/A and PDF/UA workflows, document comparison, optimization, conversion, accessibility, layers, attachments, and automation.
Unlike browser-based PDF services, LinXPDF is designed around local desktop workflows. Core editing, OCR, optimization, comparison, and standards validation can run offline. The Debian package includes its private PDF runtime, qpdf tools, Tesseract OCR, OpenSSL support, OpenJDK, and veraPDF Greenfield validation components.
A Real PDF Editor - Not Just a Viewer
Open existing PDFs and work directly with pages, annotations, text, images, vector objects, forms, links, bookmarks, layers, attachments, and document metadata.
LinXPDF includes:
- Multi-tab PDF viewing with thumbnails, search, navigation, zoom, print support, recent files, and password-protected document handling
- Insert, delete, rotate, reorder, crop, resize, extract, split, merge, and duplicate pages
- Undo/redo, validated working copies, crash recovery, atomic save, and external-change protection
- Rich text boxes with embedded Unicode fonts, alignment, wrapping, line spacing, character spacing, paragraph spacing, indentation, colors, and automatic fit
- Existing-text replacement with conservative direct rewriting when safe and geometry-backed editing when a PDF uses more complex font structures
- Image insertion, replacement, crop, rotation, flip, opacity, move/resize, copy, duplicate, delete, and nested Form XObject occurrence handling
- Conservative vector-object discovery, styling, transforms, copy/duplicate, z-order, and unique nested Form-instance editing
- Multi-object selection, alignment, distribution, group movement, direct manipulation handles, keyboard nudging, copy/paste, duplicate, and object ordering

Designed for Linux
LinXPDF uses a dark Linux Mint/Mint-Y-inspired interface with charcoal work surfaces and Mint-green selection and focus accents. PDF page colors are not altered by the dark application theme.
The Debian release is designed to be self-contained and offline-friendly. It bundles the private application runtime and professional validation/OCR components rather than requiring users to assemble a large dependency stack manually.
